FT: How to Invest in Silver

LONDON, 24 November 2012 - The Financial Times today features BullionVault as a cost-effective way for private investors to buy silver for investment.

"Holding physical silver is one of the safest forms of exposure for those looking to hedge against inflation and diversify a portfolio away from equities," says FT Money - its weekend supplement devoted to helping Financial Times' readers manage their personal finances.

"[But] it is worthwhile considering carefully how you buy your silver," the FT goes on, because of the high mark-ups and dealer charges typically seen on silver coins, plus the additional 20% VAT sales tax for UK buyers.

"Buying on the wholesale market can be cheaper. The internet...has opened up this market to private investors," the paper goes on, specifically naming BullionVault.

Quoting information from BullionVault, the FT's advice also notes that "a big advantage of buying silver wholesale" is that it is VAT-exempted, provided it is held as professional-grade metal inside accredited storage by a member of the London Bullion Market Association."
