Telegraph: How to Avoid a Gold Scam

LONDON, 7 January 2025 – BullionVault is named today as a safe way to buy physical gold and contrasted with an alleged investment fraud in a report from UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

The report details how unwary investors were offered the chance to buy gold "at a special discounted price" – less than 1/5th of the real bullion-market cost – through a 'forwards' contract promising delivery from a mine in Ghana, West Africa.

"The investment scheme is now being investigated by the Metropolitan Police," it explains, after victims complained that no gold was delivered and they couldn't retrieve their money.

"Buying using forwards is markedly different from using services such as BullionVault," says The Telegraph, "which allows you to buy gold online to be held physically in vaults on your behalf."
